Showreel Best Practices

Your animation reel is your ticket to landing this role. Here’s how to make it stand out:

Do:

  • Lead with your best work – Recruiters often decide within the first 30 seconds.
  • Show character performance – El Guiri is looking for acting and emotion, not just technical skill.
  • Include lip-sync examples – English dialogue animation is a key requirement.
  • Add breakdowns – Show your process, references, and iterations if possible.
  • Keep it short and focused – 2-3 minutes is ideal; quality over quantity.

Don’t:

  • Include work you didn’t personally animate (unless clearly credited).
  • Use copyrighted music without permission.
  • Make the reel too long or cluttered with too many shots.
  • Include outdated or low-quality work just to fill time.
